Bloggers' meetup at Gloria Jean's Coffees

The Australian chain Gloria Jean's Coffee launched it’s second outlet in Karachi at the Dolmen Mall Clifton yesterday. Team FCPK invited me to a pre-opening bloggers meet up.
Situated in the largest and classiest shopping mall of Karachi, and with a tastefully done interior, Gloria Jean's is a perfect spot for breakfast on the go or to hangout for coffee with friends. You can relax on the couches and enjoy a good book while sipping coffee. The restaurant has a great view overlooking the beach and the management plans to set up a balcony very soon for those who would like to enjoy their coffee in fresh air.

Cappucino
Gloria Jean's International is very proud of the beverages it serves and hence using the exact same recipe and ingredients, the local management too serves the replica of coffee and drinks which the Australians boast about. The coffee itself is nice but personally I felt that there was no outstanding factor in their cappuccino as compared to other coffee houses of the city.  We tried three of their drinks; Very Vanilla Chiller, Mix Berry Chiller and Lemon Lychee Iced Tea. The Mix Berry Chiller was a bit too sweet for my taste but refreshing, however Very Vanilla Chiller was delicious. Neither too sweet nor too strong, it was a perfect combination of espresso and vanilla. The Lemon Lychee Iced Tea however did not come upto the mark.
Beef Burgers

Potato Skins with Red Kidney Beans and Sour Cream

Fillet Mignon Steak

Piquante Chicken

From their hot kitchen, we were served 4 dishes to taste and my most favorite was  which had a very nice smoky flavor. This is usually served with cream of spinach and sautéed vegetables. Others, which included Fillet Mignon Steak, Beef Burger and Potato Skins with red kidney beans and sour cream tasted pretty average.

Gloria Jean's Coffee has a very elaborate menu but it is made up of dishes that are already being served in majority of eateries across Karachi therefore I feel that they should bring up more innovative items as far as their hot kitchen is concerned.

All in all it was a nice experience hanging out at Gloria Jeans Coffee but there is much more room for improvement and learning when it comes to their hot kitchen items since Gloria Jeans will be facing tough competition in the future when restaurants such as Gun Smoke, Cafe 76, Chairman Mao, Noodle House and Abaan start functioning in Dolmen Mall Food Court

Disclaimer: I was invited to the pre-opening blogger's meet up by FCPK and the food was sponsored by Gloria Jean's Coffee but all the views expressed in this post are entirely my own.
